Invasive Native Aquatic Species Management

This year we are taking a 'wait and see' approach to the weed management, and are formulating a 5 year management plan soliciting help from the state approved contractors and UNH. In the meantime, we are still fund raising and providing our community with opportunities to explore our pond, and its unique beauty, for all of us.

Publicity/Education

Updating and maintaining this website -writing articles for newspapers, talking to reporters, putting together the newsletter- all these fall under publicity.

Water Quality

 The members of this committee understand that the quality of the water in Powwow Pond has a direct impact on our enjoyment of this water body and on the property values of our members' home. 

Members of the Water Quality have attended a state seminar on the sampling regimen as specified by the Volunteer Lakes Association.

We will contine the work done by Larry Smith on monitoring the water quality, and educate the residents  of the Powwow Pond general watershed area  on how shore activities can impact water quality and speed plant growth and aging of the pond.

Fund Raising

The goal of this committee is to fund the costs of the recommendations of the other two major committees. We have planned actitvites to raise money in Texas Hold'em, dinner/dances, and others.

As there is likely to be large amounts of money needed ideas and help is needed.

There is no money from the state for these projects, and likely none from the town. It's up to us! 

With a fair amount of effort, Powwow Pond Council has been accepted to receive money from the NH Gaming Commission, which will certainly offset the efforts of the Council.
